The design inspiration for this project is Muji Interiors to give the small furniture / wood working industry that is common in the Cagayan Region a more modern look. 

The use of light, unvarnished look is to pay homage to the usual 'unfinished' look wood workers use in their furniture finishes.  It is also to give a 'traditional' feel to it while still embracing the inevitable modernization of furniture design.
